The V/H/S/ films have always done a great job of focusing on great indie directors and writers. This time around the film will feature features by Maggie Levin, Johannes Roberts, Flying Lotus, Tyler MacIntyre and Vanessa and Joseph Winter. The first film in the franchise came out in 2012 and has released films pretty consistently over the years ever since. Their last film was set in 94 and now this follows up heads to 99 with V/H/S/99. The V/H/S/ franchise must really love the heck out of the 90s. Hoping to get lucky, his luck may have just run out.“ While getting acquainted, their flirtation turns playful, sexy and sinister. Driving home to her secluded estate after meeting at a local bar, a player out to score thinks his beautiful, mysterious date will be another casual hook-up. “ Justin Long and Kate Bosworth star in this seductive thriller from director Neil LaBute (The Wicker Man). The synopsis for House of Darkness goes like this: It is also arguably one of Hammer’s best-acted films. Plus, it has a real menace running under its skin. If you haven’t seen Daughters of Darkness it is one of Hammer Films’ best among the classics.
Even the title “ House of Darkness” feels like its a nod in that direction. You will be able to see from the trailer what it is based on, but I also pulled a lot of notes from the world of Daughters of Darkness. It’s fun to see Justin playing such a classic Justin character and to see Kate playing this sort of villainous role. The film stars Justin Long and Kate Bosworth. It’s great watching along and then seeing all these classic pieces begin to fit into place. The House of Darkness trailer does a nice job of easing its way into its Bram Stoker influences.
